A name and an idea of the Player character’s background and style.
A Ship
The vessel, mobile headquarters, and primary setting of the game. This may be chosen from a selection provided or created from scratch by the player. Some ships may alter core mechanics or values like starting dice, Setback threshold, etc, but at base should have a brief description of its size, type, and an idea of its capabilities.
Reason
A core motivation for the player character and a reason to be voyaging in the first place. An easy fallback is to set completing a specific constellation as the character’s goal.
Where a record of the game and the player’s responses to prompts are kept, each according to their own preference. Where the meat of the game takes place.

A player starts the game with a pool of four Stars.
Stars are standard dice used to build clusters and constellations. Players always roll all the Stars in their pool when making clusters or constellations. Players can gain or lose Stars at any point in the game.
